HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT
January 7, 2016
NEW CONFINED SPACE TRAINING COURSE ADDRESSES UPDATED STANDARDS
Every year, hundreds of employee deaths and thousands of injuries occur in and around confined spaces.
In 1993 OSHA addressed these hazards in the Permit-Required Confined Spaces Standard for General
Industry. Its May 2015 Confined Spaces in Construction Standard extends similar protections to workers in
the construction industry.
The new Standard also clarifies many points in the earlier General Industry rule. And depending on the tasks
their workers will be performing in the Permit Space, many employers that don’t normally consider
themselves to be in the construction business, may find that the Construction Standard applies to them, as
well.
The Confined Space Entry training program provides employees with current facts on confined space
hazards; how a Permit Space Program reduces these risks; what roles they may play in a confined space
entry; how to keep themselves and their co-workers safe inside, and more.
The Confined Space Entry Compliance Manual provides employers with instructions on building their own
Permit-Space Program; complying with the OSHA Standards; employee training, and more. By addressing
the Confined Spaces Standards for both general industry and construction, the Manual provides answers to
questions employers will have about any type of activity in their confined spaces.
The newly updated Confined Space Course is now available in English with Spanish to follow shortly. The
course is also available on DVD, interactive CD-ROM format, online/SCORM and VOD/video streaming
delivery.
JUST RELEASED! ARC FLASH TRAINING COURSE
Thousands of people are injured and killed every year by electricity’s two main hazards, arc flash and shock.
Arc flash is a violent release of electrical energy that causes severe injuries and fatalities through extreme
heat and blast effects. Shock can cause burns, internal injuries, cardiac arrest and even death.
It is crucial that Employers ensure their workers understand these hazards and know how to avoid them.
Arc Flash provides non-technical employees with a basic knowledge of what arc flash is; what its hazards
are; and what steps they can take to prevent accidents and injuries involving it. The program also describes
procedures that workers should use to protect themselves and their coworkers from electric shock.
The Arc Flash training course is now available in English with Spanish to follow shortly. The course is also
available on DVD, interactive CD-ROM format, online/SCORM and VOD/video streaming delivery.
NEW! FITNESS AND WELLNESS TRAINING HELPS BUILD HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES
Healthier employees are more effective employees. Better wellness can give them more energy, increase

reasonable goals while eliminating bad habits like smoking, alcohol and drug use that can hold them back.
The newly updated program includes captivating visuals and a fresh look and feel that grabs employees’
attention and keeps them interested for more effective learning.
The Fitness and Wellness Course is included in the Safety Meeting Kit Series and is available in DVD;
